Global data and business intelligence platform Statista cited the latest data from the ECDB website, showing that SHEIN ranks as the third largest online fashion retailer in the United States, following Amazon and Walmart. SHEIN is also the only Chinese company among the top five online fashion retailers in the United States.
According to reports, Amazon and Walmart, the top two fashion retailers in the United States, had net fashion sales of $12.3 billion and $8.9 billion respectively in 2023. SHEIN ranks third with net sales of $8.1 billion. Its diverse and cost-effective fashion products and premium services have surpassed Macy’s, the fourth-ranked traditional retailer in the United States, and Nike, ranked fifth.
Media reports cited the “2023 Top Ten Fastest Growing Brands in the United States” released by the authoritative American consulting firm Morning Consult, stating that SHEIN, along with leading international brands like ChatGPT, OpenAI, Facebook, and Coca-Cola, was selected. SHEIN is the only Chinese brand on the list and the only fashion brand chosen globally.
It is worth noting that SHEIN launched the low-cost beauty brand SHEGLAM in 2019, with products mainly covering bath, skincare, and makeup, priced between $1 and $13. In addition, SHEIN also launched the brand’s independent website in December 2020 to enhance its operational advantage in selling beauty products.
Reports have indicated that in November of last year, SHEIN filed for an initial public offering (IPO) in the United States, and it may officially IPO later this year. According to reports, the company’s latest valuation has reached $66 billion. Additionally, there are indications that London is also a potential destination for SHEIN’s listing.
SHEIN was founded in Guangzhou, China, and is now headquartered in Singapore. It is a global online retailer of fashion and lifestyle products. The company’s products mainly include clothing, home goods, beauty and personal care, and automotive accessories, among others, and it owns 11 proprietary brands. Its business spans over 150 countries and regions worldwide.
